Venerable Gayuna Cealo has dedicated his life to helping people become spiritually and economically self-sufficient. Traveling with all his possessions in just a suitcase, Gayuna Cealo (or"Cealo") campaigns for world peace, advocates for underprivileged women and children in Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Cambodia and provides basic necessities for people living in non-industrialized countries.
He is the leader of the Foundation for Global Harmony, USA and Cealo Global Harmony-Japan, both not-for-profit organizations established solely to support his work.
Cealo was ordained as a Theravada Buddhist monk in Myanmar. However, he considers his beliefs in compassion,love,charity and detachment as universal truths at the core of all religions. He regularly coordinates charitable activities and helps people from different cultures and religious traditions. In this way, Cealo brings people from all parts of the world together to celebrate the divinity in all, without judgment.
Cealo doesn't find it relevant to speak about his life prior to becoming a monk. He believes who you are in the moment is most important. Thus, Cealo wants to focus on what he is doing now and how he encourages others to do their best.

While Cealo does not consider himself a healer, many people have reported healings from being in his presence. These illnesses include cancer, diabetes, fibroid cysts, chronic migraines and depression. His genuine compassion for people naturally creates a healing environment. His ability to see into the depths of people’s hearts enables him to provide guidance, assisting individuals in reorienting their lives in positive ways to affect their physical, emotional and spiritual health.

His programs include meditation retreats, private spiritual consultations and public discussions. Donations support Cealo’s Direct Action activities in Myanmar, Cambodia and Sri Lanka. Cealo directly oversees these charitable activities by traveling to these countries and providing the support directly to the people. These activities, among many others, include providing rice and other necessary daily use items for a Catholic and Buddhist orphanages in Myanmar, funding several villages in Myanmar to build the village’s only water well and bridge and providing equipment to manufacture concrete bricks to tsunami victims in Sri Lanka.
Cealo’s work is motivated by love, which evaluates and feels the situation and then does what’s best for the person. Cealo helps people plant their seeds of self-sufficiency and reliance and then encourages those seeds to grow.
